For my main character i didnt because well by the time I could afford I either already had the skill or could cap it in a couple minutes. As for my other characters if the skills close to the end of the game and i dont feel like beating everything up to it I buy an elite tome to save time.

I noticed that Elite Tomes are sold high (and people are buying it). There are other players who are selling Normal tome for more than 1k (LOL max price of tome from NPC is 1k).
|
yes you get a skill From that trader, some skills can only be gotten in ember light camp or gate of torment which is the end the campaigns which may take some time.

How about you? Did you buy Elite for your new character? Does it worth the price of your tome?

somtimes.

lol. If you have the skill unlocked, it is available on a tome, and its available at any skill trader. Unless its from prophecies and you're starting in factions or somethin.

I bought one because I was too lazy to play my mesmer though NF and she needed Enchanter's Conundrum for GVG. Otherwise, I sell them or give them to Guildies.

I've never bothered buying any elite tomes but I did use an elite mesmer tome I got as a drop to have my mesmer learn Ineptitude. I usually prefer to go cap elites unless they're in really annoying or out of the way places, as with Ineptitude.

I bought a necro one because at the time, FoC was the last elite I needed for Tyrian Skill Hunter and I really didn't feel like going all the way up snake dance to get it. About 6 months later, I ended up deciding to get Tyrian Cartographer and had to go up there anyway...

No. But then again I only really play one character nowadays and he's finished all campaigns so it's not that much effort to map travel to where ever the boss is nearest.

I have only one skill I plan on using a tome on and that is Feast Of Curruption for my skill capper. No way I'm looking for that damn boss anymore.

Feast Of Corruption was the last skill i capped before i got my legendary skill hunter title. It was kind of funny though, becoz for so a very long time i didnt know about the existence of deldrimor war camp, which made me think i had to come all the way from camp rankor to dreadnaught drift to slay Maw for the skill. Then i discovered the deldrimor war camp while capping other skill. still, i capped FoC for last, coming from deldrimor war camp. less hassle.
but yeah, if u have the money to burn, just use the tome for FoC, or whatever skill that's pain to cap.

I tomed AoG on my Dervish the other day just because he's not too far into NF but is maxed and capable of PvP, so I took him to GvG with my guild. Ordinarily no, but as I get more money and cap skills for Skill Hunter on my primary thus unlocking them, it does become more tempting.

I've got legendary skill hunter on my warrior, got ~2 elites with tomes.
Imo elite tomes are useful if you need a skill that is hard to cap, but its lame to get all the elites by tomes (even the easy ones)
